Directions to Log into Google Drive
If your child is interested in logging in to their Google Drive at home to work on their Dr. Seuss writing, please click here for directions how to do that. This is not a requirement, however I know that some are interested in trying it at home.

Second Grades Hanging Out - Google Style!
This week we have been experimenting with collaborating across the district! In our classroom, we've been using Google Hangouts to work together with Mrs. Irick's 2nd grade class in Trumbauerville Elementary to create a "Dr. Seuss-like story".
We have met on Hangouts to decide on what our character will be like, what our setting is, and how our story will go. Then, we've moved into a Google Doc that each partner is sharing, and we've begun to type our story!
See this Instagram post from Ricki Stein, Community Relations Coordinator for QCSD. It shows how Mrs. Yerger ended up in Mrs. Irick's classroom on Tuesday!! Pretty cool!
We will be Hanging Out again tomorrow morning. Please be sure to ask your student about their experience!

In second grade we introduce the concept of how addition and multiplication are related. One activity that you can do at home to help your child understand this concept is by playing a game called Build It. This is how you play....
- Roll one die. That is the number of rows on a piece of graph paper.
- Roll the die a second time. That is the number of columns.
-Write the multiplication problem inside the array. The child counts the squares to determine the product.
- Then the second player plays.
- The arrays can be colored in. In the end, the person with the most colored squares is the winner.
Here is an example of how the game is played. Enjoy!
